Reader’s Question:

If a person is in jail and he own a vehicle, how will he insure it? He wont be out anytime soon. If he doesnt carry car insurance then his tag won’t get renewed. But he doesnt drive it. How should he go about doing this?

Most states would require that one should maintain insurance on the car if it is currently registered. It is possible that if he is not driving the car that he may not have to insure it. He could cancel the registration and return the tag. He can still insure the car if you wish to do so. He could buy an auto insurance policy like he ordinarily would. He could use the street address where the vehicle is being kept and you could continue to be the named insured. He can easily and quickly get a car insurance quote and purchase his policy online.
