Reader’s Question:

I really love sports cars and I find them so cool! But what should I expect out of a sports car insurance in Los Angeles?

Kurt

Los Angeles CA

People who deals with automobiles, whether a car dealer or a car insurance agent, will definitely know that sports cars command a higher cost in getting a sports car insurance alone. You see, car insurance companies don’t like it when they have to write car insurance policies for cars that promote high-speed driving. Sports cars, aside from being so expensive to replace or repair, are also prone to accidents and damages because they tempt drivers to drive them as fast as they can. Thus, by covering sports cars, insurance providers run the risk of facing constant claims against the insurance policy.

If you own a sports car in Los Angeles, you are definitely aware of the importance of having the right sports car insurance. If your sports car get damaged or you’ll be in an accident, your car insurance should be enough to cover for the costs of replacement parts and repairs. You shouldn’t end up paying for the amount that your policy cannot cover because your coverage is not enough.

Even though insurance for sports cars is typically more expensive compared to ordinary cars, you should have the opportunity to find the insurance policy with appropriate insurance coverage at the cheapest rate. By acquiring as many insurance quotes for sports car as possible, you are giving yourself the benefit of choosing the best car insurance policy with the most reasonable price.

Getting quotes for sports car insurance are fast and easy through the Internet. There are web sites that offer to process your quotes request. With one request, you will have as many car insurance quotes as possible for your perusal. Furthermore, you get all these in an instant! So whether you own a Porsche or a Ferrari, the Internet has the right insurance policy for you. Even if your sports car is used daily, on weekends or on race events only, the Internet has many available car insurance quotes that you can choose from to get the car insurance policy that definitely suit your needs, requirements and situation.

Reader’s Question:

I live in Flint, Michigan and I would like to know how many points does it take to be considered a unsafe or bad driver for insurance purposes?

Dan

Flint, MI

Michigan has a point system in which each moving violation has a point value, which is set by Michigan Vehicle Code law. Points are assessed and put on your driving record after you have been found guilty or convicted of or responsible for a civil infraction. Points placed on your driver record (MVR) stay there for two years.

The amount of points in which it takes for an insurance provider in Flint MI to determine you as an unsafe driver will depend on the individual insurance carrier since insurers differ on how they use these violations to determine your auto insurance rates or if you are a high risk driver. To check your insurance carrier’s rating system you can contact them or your state’s insurance regulator since auto insurance rates must be filed with this agency.

Also Michigan has decided that if you accumulate seven or more qualifying points on your driving record or are convicted of specific moving violations you will have to take part in the Driver Responsibility Program.

Reader’s Question:

I was driving my sister’s car that has no insurance and someone hit the car that I was driving, will my SR22 cover the damage?

Jim

Chicago, IL

I would suggest you verify that any car you drive is insured. Your sister’s car is required to insure it. Your SR22 policy would be secondary to that car insurance. You may still get in trouble for driving that car if there is no car insurance on it.

If you borrow a car from a your sister and got involved in an accident in that car, your sister’s car insurance would kick in first. However if, for instance, the accident was your fault and the damage to the other driver’s property exceeded the liability limits on your sister’s car insurance policy, your SR22 insurance policy would cover the excess (up to policy limits).

Reader’s Question:

Can I use a “Non-Owner” SR22 insurance policy if I own a car and already have insurance?

Linda

Thank you asking Linda.

Yes.

One common option with an SR22 requirement is to buy a “non-owner”, or “named-operator” policy. This insurance policy is issued to supplement your existing insurance policy, and meets the state’s minimum liability insurance requirements for license release. With sr22 there is no communication with your existing insurance provider, and the policy is issued faster and discreetly. Once your required time is completed and satisfied, you can cancel or terminate the SR22 policy and continue your existing insurance uninterrupted. A “non-owner” SR22 policy is usually the least expensive alternative, and by far the most popular product.

Goodluck!
